Kincaid School Store – Teaching Financial Literacy

It’s the middle of the school year and many students are running low on school supplies such as notebook paper, pencils, erasers, pens and crayons. Teachers try their best to help out because our children tend to inform us the night before that they need certain supplies.

Effective as of 02.09.12, Kincaid PTA is now offering an addition to the School Store program. We will continue to offer our current offering of fun school supplies on the first Thursday of the month and will be offering additional store hours before school on all remaining Thursday mornings each month. On these mornings, we will not offer fun supplies – only the traditional supplies listed below. Below is a list of the school supplies that will be offered and the prices for each. This is a great opportunity to teach our students how much supplies cost and how to budget their money to pay for them.

  • Pencils $0.20
  • Notebook Paper $1.50
  • Glue sticks $0.60
  • Red pens $0.20
  • Crayons (24) $1.75
  • Poster board $1.25
  • Sharpie marker $1.00
  • Scissors $1.75
  • Colored pencils(12) $1.50
  • Highlighters $0.50
  • Pink eraser $0.30
  • Eraser caps $0.05
  • Protractor $0.50

Mark your calendars on Thursdays for School Store days. The first Thursday of the month will remain the same as always, but we will offer the above items on other Thursday mornings. If you have any questions or want to volunteer your time and talents, please contact Lori Bartik, Financial Literacy Chair, at SchoolStore@KincaidPTA.org or at (770) 565-3295.
